What are CENTURY End of Year Assessments?

CENTURY's End of Year Assessments capture what students have actually learned across the whole year. They are the digital bookend to the Baseline Assessments schools sit in September.

The assessments allow teachers to track the progress of each learner relative to their peers, and to identify strengths and weaknesses for individual students and the whole class.

These assessments are sat in a single, formal sitting towards the end of the academic year. Questions are delivered and auto-marked in CENTURY, so there's no marking to do and results are ready as soon as students finish. Each completed assessment generates a report that breaks performance down by topic and links straight to recommended CENTURY resources to close any gaps identified.

How are End of Year Assessments different from a diagnostic?

Diagnostics target specific topics, run informally alongside day-to-day teaching, and feed a student's ongoing Recommended Pathway, whereas End of Year Assessments are a single, whole-subject snapshot taken at a fixed point in the year.

Available assessments

End of Year Assessments are currently available for Years 2 to 6:

Year

English (SPaG)

Maths

Science

Year 2

-

Year 3

Year 4

Year 5

Year 6

Each assessment aligns to the English National Curriculum for that year group. Most students complete an assessment in around 30 minutes; though we would recommend leaving up to 45 minutes.

For Years 2 to 5, these assessments can also help flag any gaps before students move into their next year, including ahead of KS2 SATs preparation. The Year 6 assessment gives a final, whole-primary snapshot that's useful for handover to secondary.

Why set End of Year Assessments?

  • Capture a full year of progress. See exactly what's been learned by the end of the year, not just where students started.
  • Reduce summer learning loss. Every student gets a report with recommended nuggets that can be shared with parents and guardians, giving them a ready-made action plan for the summer.
  • Hand over with confidence. The class report provides performance breakdowns by topic, so the next teacher can see strengths and gaps at a glance and plan September accordingly.
  • No marking required. Assessments are auto-marked, so results are ready immediately.
  • Included in your subscription. End of Year Assessments are already in your account and take about 2 minutes to set up.

Understanding your reports

As soon as an assessment window closes, CENTURY automatically generates a report, both for each individual student and for the class or year group as a whole. At a glance, you can see how students performed by topic, along with recommended nuggets to close any gaps, whether that's homework over the summer or a starting point for planning in September.

We have a dedicated help page covering how to read and interpret your reports in more detail, including what each section means and how to use it to inform planning.
